Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy
Platelet-Rich Plasma (Twilight therapy, also known as Vampire Facial / Facelift)
At Fine Art Aesthetics Dr Salman is delighted to offer PRP treatments at his clinics in Kent and Sussex. It has been recently found that PRP treatments can be used for a number of treatments in the body. So what is PRP, which can also be referred to by some celebrities as a “vampire facial”?
PRP, or Platelet Rich Plasma, is a process where a patient’s blood is drawn from a vein, placed in a centrifuge, and the red blood cells are separated from the rest of the blood. This leaves the plasma part of the blood to be drawn and used for many different regenerative treatments in different parts of the body. Plasma is rich in Platelet Growth Factors (PGF’s) that aid in wound healing and the body’s natural repair cascade. PGF’s encourage the cells in the skin responsible for producing collagen and elastin, called fibroblasts, to increase their production of these two elements that help give the skin more resilience and a youthful look.
This technology has been around since the 1970’s to treat athletic injuries but its regenerative benefits in the aesthetics field were recently discovered. PRP therapy is one of the latest advancements in medical aesthetics and Dr Salman’s clinic is a provider of the therapy in the Kent and East Sussex region. PRP is a technique that uses the body’s own healing factors to improve the condition of the skin and increase hair growth. The process works by extracting a patient’s own blood and spinning it in a centrifuge to separate the plasma, which is then injected into the affected area.
The main benefit of PRP therapy is that it naturally encourages the body’s own healing response, consistently providing new health and improved appearance with minimal downtime. The therapy helps rejuvenate the skin by promoting cell renewal and accelerating the production of collagen within the skin.
Dr Salman uses PRP therapy to treat both the scalp and on the face, providing anti-aging benefits by increasing collagen production, reducing wrinkles and tightening the skin. This treatment is also reported to provide a “glow” to the treated skin. Each PRP treatment is tailored to every patient’s individual needs, allowing much greater results compared to products and treatments available over the counter.
The PRP procedure involves minimal pain, has no risk of an allergic reaction, and produces very minimal side effects as the patient’s own plasma is used. Since there are no preservatives or any added chemicals involved in this procedure, no allergy testing is necessary. The application of a topical anaesthetic cream further helps in making PRP a more comfortable procedure. It is a non-surgical process, completely natural and its benefits become noticeable with little to no downtime. Patients’ skin elasticity, firmness, and general skin tone are improved alongside hair regrowth when the procedure is used on the scalp. It can also be used to improve skin quality of the hands, decolletage, neck and around the eyes.
Sun damage can lead to wrinkles, fine lines, sun-spots and hyperpigmentation. PRP can help reduce the effects of such sun damage by improving the body’s ability to recover. For further information on this revolutionary treatment specifically tailored to you, do not hesitate to book a consultation with Dr. Murshid Salman at your earliest convenience.
PRP treatment results can take between 2-12 weeks to show effect depending on skin quality, age, diet, smoking and sun exposure. On average, it is recommended that this treatment is carried out twice over 4 weeks initially and then a maintenance procedure every 6 months. More severe cases may require further visits.
Dr Salman will ask you for a full medical history at the consultation. He will only commence treatment if he is confident you are medically suitable for it. Dr Salman may refer to your GP if necessary. There are certain contraindications to lip filler treatments which may mean you cannot have the treatment.

PRP therapy is a form of regenerative medicine that utilizes a person’s own platelet-rich plasma to stimulate tissue healing and regeneration. Platelets are the portion of the blood that contain growth factors, which are proteins that stimulate healing, and are extracted from the patient’s own blood. Stem cell therapy is a form of regenerative medicine that utilizes stem cells to help regenerate and repair tissue. Stem cells are special cells that can differentiate into any type of cell, and can be extracted from a variety of sources, including a person’s own body. When injected into an injured area, the stem cells can help to repair and grow new tissue. Unlike PRP therapy, stem cell therapy can involve the use of stem cells from a donor, as well as the patient’s own stem cells.
Yes, PRP for Hair Growth is safe in the UK. It is a minimally invasive procedure that involves taking a small amount of your own blood, separating the platelets, and then injecting them into the area of the scalp where hair loss is occurring. This helps to boost blood flow, stimulate the hair follicles, and promote hair growth.
Side effects of PRP for skin may include mild pain or discomfort at the injection site, bruising, swelling, and redness.
The PRP for hair growth procedure typically takes about 30 - 45 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.
PRP for skin is generally considered a safe and painless procedure. However, there may be some minor discomfort during the process of drawing blood and injecting the PRP into the skin area.
For 1 treatment, the cost is £445. For 3 treatments, the cost is £1,200.
